Dr. Joel C. Hunter

Since 1985, Dr. Joel C. Hunter has served as the senior pastor of Northland, A Church Distributed around Orlando, Florida. He is the president of Christian Coalition of America and Christian Coalition International. Additionally, he serves on the board of directors for the World Evangelical Alliance, National Association of Evangelicals, Christian Peacemaking Resources, Inc., Global Pastors’ Network, and The Jobs Partnership of Central Florida, among others. He is the author of Prayer Politics and Power (1988); a 10 book series, “The Journey to Spiritual Maturity” (2000) and Right Wing, Wrong Bird (2006). Founder of the Alliance for the Distributed Church, he served as adjunct professor of practical theology at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando from 1991 to 2002 and currently is a guest lecturer. Dr. Hunter ministered for 15 years in the United Methodist Church in Indiana before serving at Northland. He received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and his master’s in divinity and doctorate in ministry from Christian Theological Seminary in Indiana. He and his wife, Becky, married in 1972. They have three sons, Joshua, an executive minister, is married to Lisa and Isaac, senior pastor of Summit Church in Orlando, is married to Rhonda. Joel is an ophthalmology resident in Tampa. The Hunters are grandparents to Noah, Jada, Ella and Ava.
